Volunteers help Old Town preserve Lansing's only historic commercial district, influence economic development and planning, and improve Old Town's appearance and atmosphere. There are many ways in which you, as a volunteer, can donate your time and energies towards Old Town. Below are several options, but the volunteer opportunities are limited only by your imagination.

Help plan, coordinate and work at the many special events
The Festival of the Sun, Block Parties and holiday festivities such as "Santa's Sampler" provide entertainment and a means of bringing together the community and inviting the larger community to share in the spirit of Old Town.

Continue to update the historical database
Old Town's history is an important aspect of its current character. We need volunteers to continue to learn about and document our history.

Guide walking tours of Old Town
Learn the history of Old Town and share it with others as you guide them on a tour of Old Town.

Help with mailings
Old Town Main Street sends out newsletters as a means of informing the community. You can help write, address and send out our many mailings.

Beautify and maintain Old Town
Help create and preserve a pleasant atmosphere in Old Town through events such as planting flowers and river cleanup.

Assist us with other special projects
New activities and unique projects are constantly beginning. We need your personal care to get them going and make them wonderful.
